10th and Temperance
The great photo indexing project continues. Today's slog involved also, finally, going through 2017 and deleting all traces of the affair. It's aggravating being reminded of L, but it's a good thing to edit and excise the photographic memories. Every time I make any kind of reminder contact with that misadventure, I get extremely angry, these days. It is a double anger, at her and at myself. But there's something cathartic about deleting every photo I can find from every interaction, visit, or exchange. 10th and Temperance is an intersection in St. Paul, and it's the only photo from any visit with L that I decided to keep. Mostly because it seems like an omen, a warning. I ignored so many red flags for months. A strange street crossing would have told me, if I had listened. Last night, I finally got takeout from Din Tai Fung, an upscale chain of Taiwanese dumpling restaurants. I have been meaning to get some dinner from there since I moved here. It was a fairly typical LA deal involving parking in a garage at a huge shopping mall, etc. Fairly painless though. I am starting to get used to the exigencies of urban life. Excited for M's visit next weekend, and making some final preparations for that. This week at school is fairly mad, with a ton of extra things going on, but the week after Memorial Day is extremely light, and then the week after that is the end of classes already. I spent far too much time trying to configure a RevBayes script and accompanying sbatch script to submit to the Agave computing cluster at ASU this morning. I am running the same analysis on the new Asus with 8 cores and 16GB of RAM and the ETA on the full analysis being done is 345 hours from now, haha. Meanwhile, Agave is holding off on running the job because of the resources it will take. Time to go to the beach. I need to get out and clear my mind and heart.
