Problematic as he was as a person, there's no denying that he is one of the biggest influences on me, musically.
The above, a crystal clear Japanese Blu Spec CD remix of the matinee show in February 1975, Osaka Japan. I was amazed to hear the bass parts so much more strongly, and the very fine separation of all of the instruments, in this remix. I wondered if it was worth the $40 and yeah it was why not.
Anyway, happy 95th birthday Mr. Davis. It's weird to imagine him having survived to that age. He looked pretty shredded in the 90's already.
